Allow Vijay to Assume Office, Says Thirumavalavan – News Today | First with the news

Chennai,  May 7:

Thol Thirumavalavan on Thursday said C Joseph Vijay should be allowed to assume office, asserting that the Governor cannot insist on proof of support from 118 MLAs before inviting him to form the government.
Speaking amid the ongoing uncertainty over government formation in Tamil Nadu, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader said Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly and therefore Vijay must be given an opportunity to prove his majority on the floor of the House.
Thirumavalavan criticised Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for delaying a decision, saying the uncertainty was creating unnecessary confusion in the political atmosphere. “Whether Vijay has the majority should be decided on the Assembly floor,” he said.
He also confirmed that the VCK was considering the possibility of supporting a TVK-led government if approached formally.
Political observers believe Thirumavalavan’s remarks could add momentum to TVK’s ongoing efforts to secure outside support and strengthen its claim to form the next government. The VCK’s stand is being closely watched as the party holds key numbers in the evolving post-poll political scenario.
