May is not starting off with particularly sunny weather conditions, so don’t put away your rain jacket and umbrella just yet – here is your forecast for the week

It looks like unsettled showers will be frequent this week as the national forecaster predicts temperatures will drop as low as 2 °C.

However, people can look forward to some sunny spells this afternoon and evening during the bank holiday.

Here is your forecast for the week.

Today, Monday, May 4th

Mostly cloudy and dry this morning, although patches of drizzle are possible in the southwest. Some sunny spells will develop through the afternoon and evening, but it will remain rather cloudy, with showers in the south and northwest. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light north to northwest winds.

Tonight will start mainly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Scattered showers will develop in the north and west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with light north to northwest or variable winds.

Tuesday, May 5th

Tomorrow morning will be mainly cloudy, with showers in the north and west. The showers will move southwards through the day and will be followed by drier weather with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with light northerly winds.

Clear and mostly dry, albeit a little cool overnight. A few mist patches will form, too. A weak northerly breeze with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.

Wednesday, May 6th

A bright and mostly dry start, but it will turn perhaps a little more cloudy later in the morning. A few showers will bubble up across eastern counties in the afternoon, elsewhere remaining dry. Light winds and highs of 11 to 13 degrees. Cloudy night overall, with any lingering showers clearing away. Light winds will become moderate westerly overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Thursday, May 7th

A mostly cloudy but dry start, however, rain will develop in the west later in the morning, spreading east across the country during the afternoon and evening with moderate to fresh westerly breezes. Highs of 10 to 12 degrees.

Friday, May 8th

Perhaps a more unsettled day overall, with plenty of cloud throughout and scattered showers developing in the afternoon. Cool too with a northerly breeze and highs of 9 to 12 degrees.
