The new procedure means no general anaesthesia is required, there are no scars and it takes less than 20 minutes to complete – it’s a great option for those who don’t want to go under the knife
Research has said that 68% of women who are dissatisfied with their breast appearance are deterred by the invasiveness of traditional surgery – and now there’s another option.
New technology means that suitable people can now get injectable breast implants, which can be performed in a procedure that takes just 20 minutes.
This means no general anaesthesia is required, there are no scars on the breast (only two small incisions in the armpit), and patients can literally return to their normal lives the same day.
Dr Salman from the Auralia Clinic told RSVP Live that the technology, called Mia Femtech is perfect for people who want a more natural look.
“It takes literally 20 minutes, they’ll be chatting to me during the procedure,” he said. “There’s no scars on the breasts. It uses quite a genius design of implant that achieves a lot of volume, with very little implant. It’s not for people whoa re looking for a voluptuous, hourglass look, it’s for people who are fit and athletic. It gives you a ‘Wonderbra’ look.
“It’s super neat. Because you’re respecting all of the ligaments, you’re not doing any cutting per sé, and the implant is not heavy, it gives you lasting results. You don’t have to worry about drooping or any of the things that come with doing a lot of cutting.”
It’s a great option for anyone who is nervous about going under the knife.
“It’s done on local anaesthetic,” Dr Salman explained. “To my surprise, a lot of people’s biggest thing is that they don’t want to be put asleep. The second thing is, it’s a tiny little scar under your arm so you will hardly see it at all. It’s all new technology.
“You’re in the hospital for about three hours. You can go home, shower the next day, drive the next day. If you do office based work, I expect you in the office the next day. You’ll be back to full exercise within about two and a half weeks. Those are the advantages with it.”
Who is suitable?
“The catch with it, is that only 30% of women are suitable for it,” he said. “You have to start with the right shape and physique.”
Auralia Private Hospital has become the exclusive Irish provider of Mia Femtech – get more details on their website here.
