Thousands of TVs sold in Irish stores have been recalled due to a fire risk caused by a fuse inside the power plug.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued the recall notices today for certain NordMende, Toshiba, Technika and Walker Televisions. Over 6,000 of the affected TVs were sold.
The product presents a fire risk because the fuse inside the supplied UK power plug may not operate correctly. If an electrical fault occurs, the fuse may fail to disconnect the power supply, allowing electricity to continue flowing into the TV, which could lead to overheating or fire.
The CCPC says the product safety issue relates to the mains plug fuse, not the television unit itself.
Customers should stop using the product immediately, switch it off, and unplug it from the mains.
There are approximately 6206 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. Products were on sale between October 2025 and April 2026. A further 189 NordMende Televisions are also affected.
Customers should contact Glen Dimplex to obtain a free replacement fuse or power cable. You can do this by phone at 00353 1 842 8222 or via email at serviceireland@glendimplex.com. If you own one of the NordMende units, you should contact Gowan Home, the business distributor, by phone at (01) 413 6400 or via email at sales@gowanhome.ie.
You can check if your unit is affected by checking the serial number on the rating label on the back of the television.
