The Election Commission of India (ECI) will organise special camps in residential societies for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttarakhand.
On Thursday, the chief electoral officer ( CEO) Uttarakhand BVRC Purushottam held a video conferencing session with all the district magistrates, EROs and AEROs.
In the meeting, the CEO took detailed information about the preparations and training for the SIR in the districts. On a terse note, the CEO said that in the districts where 100 per cent Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have not been made yet, the DMs should immediately hold a meeting with the political parties in this regard and get the BLAs deployed. He added that the training of the BLAs should also be held simultaneously.
Purushottam said that in the districts where there are big residential societies, nodal officers should be appointed and a roster should be prepared for setting up camps for SIR work. He directed that BLOs should compulsorily wear their ID cards given by ECI while going to the area during house to house visits.
A detailed presentation of the training module was also made at the meeting. The CEO also sought feedback on the printing, logistics and distribution plans for the enumeration forms for all districts.
