IRCTC new rules 2026: Traveling by train and the pain of waiting lists…this combination is nothing short of a nightmare. But this time, starting in May 2026, the Indian Railways has taken a step that will disturb the sleep of those who used to fraudulently obtain tickets. The Railways’ new AI-based fraud detection model will now catch the automated bots that used to grab tickets before ordinary people.
Now AI will catch brokers’ tricks (AI-based Fraud Detection in IRCTC)
The system has become so smart that if you make a booking in less than a second, the AI will recognize that it was a machine, not a human. Furthermore, the security barrier of Aadhaar verification and OTP will make instant booking even more secure. These changes were necessary because middle-class families struggle to secure tickets every summer during the holidays.
A wave of summer special trains (908 Summer Special Trains for peak season)
Not just technology, the Railways has also geared up to manage the crowds. This year, 908 summer special trains are being operated until July 15th, making over 18,000 trips. Furthermore, you can now change your boarding station online up to 30 minutes before your train’s departure. This change is a boon for travelers who are often in a last-minute rush.
This new initiative by the Railways is truly a major step towards a “citizen-first” approach. Now, let’s hope this technological twist truly makes the common man’s journey a pleasant and “confirmed” one.
