Pakistan’s Young Star Named PSL 11 Player of the Tournament



Peshawar Zalmi spinner Sufiyan Muqeem was named Player of the Tournament for PSL 11 after a superb campaign with the ball.

The left-arm spinner finished the season with 22 wickets in 11 matches and ended as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. He bowled with an economy rate of 7.20, an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 12, with his best figures standing at 4 for 32.

Sufiyan Muqeem’s performances also earned him the Fazal Mahmood cap as the leading wicket-taker and the Bowler of the Tournament award.

Zalmi captain Babar Azam also enjoyed a standout season and was awarded the Hanif Mohammad cap for finishing as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 588 runs in 11 matches at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 145.90.

Despite being dismissed for a duck in the final, Babar’s campaign included three half-centuries and three hundreds, making him the Batter of the Tournament.

Peshawar Zalmi also picked up two more individual honors. Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis was named Wicketkeeper of the Tournament after scoring 550 runs during the season, finishing as the second-highest run-getter. He also took two catches behind the stumps.

Farhan Yousuf was named Fielder of the Tournament after taking 10 catches across the competition.

The only major individual award to go outside Zalmi’s camp was the All-Rounder of the Tournament honor, which went to Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan. He scored 173 runs and claimed 17 wickets during the season.
