Joe Duffy is set for a new venture after his retirement as he is publishing a tell-all memoir.

The book is due for release in November and it will be titled Talk to Joe: Life, Liveline and Me.

The book will take readers inside RTÉ’s Liveline studio for the nearly three decades Joe presented the show, and beyond, the Irish Independent reports.

According to Hachette the memoir will follow topical issues discussed on the show such as the Celtic Tiger boom and crash, menopause, marriage equality, maternity care and abuses in schools and institutions.

The publisher said: “Talk to Joe is more than a memoir: it’s a chronicle of Ireland in transition, told by the man who listened hardest – and made talking feel easy.”

The publisher also confirmed that a non-fiction book by Mary Kennedy is set for release in October.

Joe Duffy stepped down from the show last June.

Recently, the broadcaster said he is not done with radio, but he will never return to it.

The legendary broadcaster hung up his mic last summer after 37 years at RTÉ, 27 of which saw him at the helm of Liveline.

Daily radio is still very much a part of Joe’s life, but as a listener and not a host.

Nearly a year into retirement, Joe is very much happy to pass the baton on to other broadcasters.

Joe told RSVP Magazine: “I’m not done with radio, because I love listening to it, but I won’t return to it.

“Gay Byrne had a great phrase from Jack Lemon and he would say: ‘When you’re in our business and the elevator goes to the top floor, you’re obliged to send that elevator back down again and let someone else get on it’.

“There are some great broadcasters all around the country.

“Thanks to the Internet, I’ve been able to listen to loads of local radio, and the morning offering especially is fantastic.

“Then we’ve Claire Byrne on Newstalk, David McCullagh on Radio 1, Dave Moore on Today FM, who is very funny, and Oliver Callan is great in his new slot.

“Make way for someone else, I say. I did it for 37 years.

“I’ve been working since I was 13, starting out at The Metropole Hotel on O’Connell Street.

“It was time to give myself a break.

“I’m still interested in other things so hopefully that holds out and I still have my health, thank God.”
