The Sindh cabinet has approved an extension of the motorcycle fuel subsidy program, allowing it to continue until May 31, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the Peoples Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program will remain operational with additional funding for the ongoing month.
The chief minister directed that Rs. 2 billion be released for May under the subsidy initiative to ensure continued support for beneficiaries. Officials informed the meeting that more than 548,000 individuals are currently receiving payments under the program, with Rs. 1.096 billion already disbursed so far.
In a separate decision, the cabinet also approved a reduction in sales tax for motorcycle-based ride-hailing services.
The sales tax has been reduced from 5 percent to 2 percent, a move expected to have an annual financial impact of Rs. 120 million. The chief minister said the reduction will benefit online drivers and support the growth of the sector.
