GHMC Junior Assistant Caught Red-Handed Taking ₹1 Lakh Bribe in Hyderabad

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise inspection at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office in Borabanda on Wednesday. During the operation, a Junior Assistant identified as Srilatha was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The trap was laid after complaints were received regarding corrupt practices at the municipal office.

According to the ACB officials, Srilatha had allegedly demanded a total of Rs 5 lakh from a citizen to clear a house construction permission file. The complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau after being harassed for the illegal payment. The ACB team then planned and executed a trap operation to catch the official in the act of accepting the bribe amount.

The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Majid Ali Khan. The ACB team successfully nabbed the junior assistant while she was receiving the money from the complainant. Following the arrest, further searches were conducted at the office premises and other relevant locations to gather additional evidence in the case.

The Telangana ACB has registered a case against Srilatha under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation is currently underway to determine if other officials were involved in the corruption racket. The seized amount and other evidence collected during the searches will be presented before the court as part of the ongoing investigation.
