Bo Bichette got a tip from a hitter he’s ‘always respected’ as he tries to rescue his disastrous Mets start

Bo Bichette had an old friend looking for him last week as the Mets prepared for the Subway Series.

J.D. Martinez, hired last month by the Mets as a special assistant, found Bichette in the home clubhouse at Citi Field before a game and shared a few thoughts with Bichette on the slumping infielder’s plate approach.

“He talked to me about getting in my legs a little bit more, which I think was probably part of the problem, but I think there was probably a multitude of things,” Bichette said.

By focusing on his lower half, Bichette said he can see the ball better because “you can stay in your legs longer, and I think that I wasn’t doing that all of the time.”
