23 terrorists killed in KP operations, says ISPR

Security forces killed 23 terrorists during a series of intelligence-based operations in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last 48 hours, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in Datta Khel, Spinwam and Bannu as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorists networks operating in the province.

The ISPR said troops engaged multiple terrorists hideouts during intense exchanges of fire, resulting in the killing of 23 terrorists belonging to the banned outfit referred to by the military as “Fitna-al-Khwarij”.

Among those killed was terrorist commander Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, who was wanted by security forces and law enforcement agencies for alleged involvement in attacks on security personnel and civilians, the statement added.

The military said weapons, ammunition, explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the killed terrorists.

It added that security forces also unearthed and destroyed a network of underground tunnels and bunkers allegedly used by terrorists in the area.

Sanitisation operations were continuing to clear the areas of any remaining terrorists, the ISPR said, adding that the counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam” would continue across the country.
