Strict action was taken during the monitoring of the door-to-door garbage collection system operated in Haridwar by the Municipal Corporation. During the field inspection, it came to the notice of the civic body officials that two garbage collecting vehicles operated by the corporation’s contracted agency were being used with more load (overloading) than the prescribed capacity.
Considering this a violation of contract terms, the corporation officers took immediate action.
A show cause notice was issued to the agency and a penalty of Rs 20,000 was slapped.
The civic body administration clarified that any negligence or disregard for sanitation rules will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Municipal Corporation has directed all the contracted agencies to ensure that the garbage collection and transportation work is done as per the prescribed standards, safety rules and terms of the contract, so that the cleanliness system of the city remains smooth and effective.
