I suspect Love Story will nab a few Emmy nominations, given how high-profile it was and how much conversation it generated about a popular and enduring topic: the Kennedys. I cannot believe we’re still discussing them, and yet various Kennedy just KEEP GIVING US STUFF TO TALK ABOUT, sigh. Anyway, it obviously depends what other limited series are eligible, but I’m sure several of them will at least score a nod. Do I think they should? Again, it depends whom they’re up against. Constance Zimmer was great and I’d love to see her on the list, and that’s probably about where it begins and ends for me. I didn’t think Paul Anthony Kelly brought any zip at all to his part. Visually he worked, but I found it very one-note. Sarah Pidgeon had super showy things to do and should get nominated, but to me she often acted too much with her chin/lower jaw and a mouth hanging open with no visible teeth? It was weird, and it wore on me after a while. Naomi Watts should get whatever the opposite of an Emmy nomination is. An Emmy scolding? Like an actual public reprimand. (Ditto the writers.) But at least several of them looked good at this; there’s a win.
