White House Seeks Second Extension in Jalil Afridi Press Access Lawsuit

F.P Report

WASHINGTON DC : Attorneys representing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt have filed a second request for an extension of time in journalist Muhammad Jalil Afridi’s White House press access lawsuit pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

According to the court filing, the White House is requesting additional time until June 2, 2026, to submit its reply in support of a partial motion to dismiss the case. Government attorneys stated they require more time to review and research new allegations raised by Afridi in his opposition filing and to consult with the relevant agency before responding.

The filing also notes that this is the defendant’s second request for an extension in the matter and states that the request is being made in good faith and not for purposes of delay.

Afridi, Managing Editor of The Frontier Post, is pursuing First and Fifth Amendment claims related to White House press access and credentialing. The motion further states that Afridi, who is representing himself, does not oppose the requested extension.
