West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari Visits Belur Math and Meets Central Leaders


Suvendu Adhikari paid respect to Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda during his visit to Belur Math on Thursday. This was his first visit since becoming the chief minister of Bengal.

CM Suvendu Adhikari Visits Belur Math

During his hour-long visit, Suvendu explored the main temple of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda’s room, and Ma Sarada’s temple. He met with Swami Gautamananda, the president of the order, and Swami Suvirananda, the general secretary. He also spoke with senior monks. The chief minister received prasad, a sari, a dhuti, and books about Swami Vivekananda.

First meeting after become CM

A senior monk present at the meeting said, “Suvendu Adhikari talked about Swami Vivekananda’s four guiding principles: education, health, spirituality, and service. He said the new government in Bengal would work towards achieving these goals.”

While interacting with the monks, Suvendu reminisced about visiting the Math with his father in an old Ambassador car. He recalled spending time there and sitting by the Hooghly River. The monk added, “CM mentioned that he has been visiting the Tamluk Math of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in East Midnapore since his early days. He was sincere in asking for the monks’ blessings to run the government.”
