WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump sharply criticized major US media outlets organizations in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing them of portraying Iran as victorious regardless of the outcome of any confrontation with the United States.
In the post, Trump said outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and CNN would continue to claim Iran had prevailed even if it’s naval and air forces were destroyed and its military surrendered.
Trump wrote that even if Iranian leaders signed what he described as a document of defeat and accepted US terms, the “fake news media” would still portray the outcome as a “great victory” for Iran.
He also accused Democrats and certain media organizations of being “completely out of control” and disconnected from reality.
The comments are the latest in Trump’s long-running criticism of US media outlets, which he has frequently accused of biased reporting on foreign policy and national security issues.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he is confident that Iran will completely halt uranium enrichment and abandon efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
In his latest remarks, President Trump said he believes Iran will stop uranium enrichment “100 percent” and give up any attempt to acquire nuclear weapons capability.
The US president also stated that the United States would secure Iran’s nuclear waste and emphasized that work on a possible agreement with Tehran must move quickly, although no rushed decision would be made
