Tommy Fleming’s stepdaughter has opened up after her mother, Tina, came forward to tell her side of the story following the couple’s separation.
A few weeks ago, Tina Mitchell released a statement saying that her 20-year-long marriage to Tommy ended in October 2025. Just last week, Tommy admitted he was gay and had strayed in their marriage in an interview with Newstalk.
Tina responded by speaking to the Sunday Independent yesterday, where she said he ‘stole’ 24 years of her life and that she regrets ever meeting him.
Rebecca Ruane, who is Tina’s daughter from her previous marriage, has now come forward, saying it has been ‘heartbreaking’ to watch her mother suffer.
“For 24 years, our family lived a life that we believed was real. We trusted, loved, and stood by a man who was supposed to protect and care for our family, only to discover that so much of our lives had been built on lies, betrayal, and deceit. The past eight months have been the most painful and traumatic time of our lives. Piece by piece, our world has fallen apart as we uncovered the truth about the double life he had been living behind our backs for decades,” Rebecca said.
“The interview conducted on the 15th of May was yet another devastating reminder of the lies we were forced to live through for so many years. Neither my mum, Tina, nor the rest of our family had any knowledge whatsoever of the extracurricular activities, deception, and betrayal that were taking place while we continued to love and trust him unconditionally.
“Once again, we want to make it absolutely clear that neither my mother nor I are responsible for any of the allegations or accusations that have been directed towards us. We have simply been trying to survive the emotional devastation caused by someone we trusted completely,” she told Evoke.
“Watching someone you love suffer so deeply is indescribable. No family should ever have to endure this level of betrayal, heartbreak, humiliation, and emotional destruction at the hands of someone they trusted for over two decades. Your kindness, support, and compassion during the darkest period of our lives has meant more to us than words can ever express.”
