Broadcaster Claire Byrne is celebrating an amazing career achievement after just under three months at Newstalk – her podcast has reached 1 million listens

Radio presenter Claire Byrne is celebrating a big career win after just under three months at Newstalk.

The Claire Byrne Show podcast on Newstalk has become Bauer Media Audio Ireland’s fastest-ever station podcast to reach 1 million listens.

The Claire Byrne Show , which kicked off on Newstalk on Tuesday 3 February, has seen exceptional growth in on-demand listening and across social media, with audiences quickly embracing Claire’s daily offering of expert analysis, searing insight and conversations that count.

Since the show’s debut, Claire has interviewed a wealth of high-profile guests including boxer Katie Taylor, Taoiseach Micheal Martin, comedian Joanne McNally and actor Colm Meaney.

Claire said that reaching one million podcast listens is a milestone she is very proud of.

She said: “We aim to help our listeners make sense of the news with a bit more clarity and the odd smile too, I’m really grateful to everyone who has joined us so far. The plan is to build on that success and keep making radio that people want to listen to!”

Previously, Claire opened up about why her Newstalk show sounds slightly different to her RTÉ one.

“I have a great team of producers and we have a researcher, but I do think Newstalk wants to see my personality in the show and in the topics that are on the show as well. So there’s an element of me being involved in the production side of it, too. But there are plenty of people here to help,” she told RSVP.

“Newstalk is very good on the social media front, so you would see more of me there but I feel a more relaxed vibe on this show where I can bring a little bit more of myself. I think people do enjoy that. And I enjoy it as well.

“And then I’m on Anton’s show every morning for a couple of minutes. I’m developing a little relationship with him in the chats that I’m having with Anton and then Andrea is on my programme because her show’s on after mine. So I like how it’s all joined up here.”

The Claire Byrne Show is available live on Newstalk weekdays from 09:00 – 12:00, and as a podcast on GoLoud, Newstalk.com and all major streaming platforms.
