Late Late viewers all saying the same thing about inspiring FTD Brothers

People watching the Late Late Show last night were in awe of the bravery and tenacity of the FTD Brothers, who are trying to find a cure for dementia by raising money for charity

Viewers of the Late Late Show are all saying the same thing about Jordan and Cian Adams, known online as the FTD Brothers.

The brothers appeared on the Late Late Show to discuss their fundraising challenge in Ireland, where they aim to complete 33 marathons in 33 days to raise money for charity.

The brother’s aim is to find a cure for dementia, which their mother sadly passed away from at just 52 years of age back in 2016. She was diagnosed with early onset Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in 2010.

Sadly, Jordan and Cian learned through genetic testing that they have a 99.9% chance of developing the disease when they reach their 40s, as they also carry a copy of the faulty gene which causes the illness.

The pair have vowed to live life to the fullest and raise as much money as possible in order to find a cure.

Jordan and Cian have a connection to Ireland as their late mother Geraldine was Irish, and they said to Patrick Kielty that they feel so supported by Ireland.

“We are on a mission to run a marathon in every single county in Ireland, to honour the memory of my mum and the 12 Irish relatives we’ve lost through a familial form of FTD,” Jordan explained.

Jordan recalled how after his mum’s diagnosis, he, along with his dad Glenn, sister Kennedy and brother Cian, became primary carers for their mum. “We watched her be stripped of everything that made her the amazing mum, wife, friend, that so many knew her to be.”

Jordan said he had a choice after learning he was also a carrier of the faulty gene. He could let his circumstances consume him and “live no life that my mum would be proud of”, or he could use that power and knowledge to change millions of people’s lives – by raising money to find a cure.

He added that the people of Ireland have really gotten behind him and his brother and he wanted to thank the Irish people for their support.

Late Late Show viewers praised the brothers highly, saying that they had the whole nation behind them.

“You are amazing @theftdbrothers so inspirational and doing your Mum and your Irish family proud. My poor wee Mum is in the later stages of dementia, a heartbreaking disease,” said one Instagram user.

“So proud of you boys, you are banging the drum, don’t stop,” added another supporter.

“Jordan and Cian are inspirational. Lost my beautiful mum to Alzheimer’s and get emotional watching them on their journey your mum would be so so proud. Best wishes on the rest of your Irish venture,” said another person.

Many people who watched the show said that the brothers should have gotten a seat on the stage, rather than be interviewed in the audience.

“Very disappointed you put these amazing brothers in your audience and not on stage,” said one person.

“Should have had a seat on the stage. These lads are incredible,” added another.
