Sisters Lottie and Bonnie Ryan have both taken to social media to share tributes for their late father, broadcaster Gerry Ryan, on the 16th anniversary of his passing
Lottie and Bonnie Ryan have posted tributes for their late father, Gerry Ryan, on the 16th anniversary of his passing.
Marking his passing, the two sisters posted on Instagram, sharing old photographs of their dad alongside photos of their younger selves.
Gerry Ryan was known nationwide for his presenting work with RTÉ and is now survived by his five children, Lottie, Rex, Bonnie, Elliot and Babette, whom he shared with his wife Morah Brennan.
The legendary radio broadcaster died from cardiac arrhythmia in 2010, at the age of just 53, which was a shock to his friends, family and to his radio listeners.
Lottie posted a photo of her and her dad with the text reading: ’16 years later and a part of me is still waiting for you to come home. The Best’
The presenter has followed in her dad’s footsteps, where she does regular radio work and also has a podcast with her sister Bonnie called No One Else Will Listen.
Lottie also re-shared a video clip of her father introducing a Riverdance performance, which was for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.
Talking about his passing on The Late Late Show last year for his 15th year anniversary, Lottie said: “I think fifteen years is a long time and it’s probably taken me this length of time to be comfortable talking about him.”
Bonnie also posted a photo with her dad with the caption: ’16 years without Dad today. Nearly half my life now. Miss you more than ever. The best dad I could have got. Lucky to have had him even if it was short.’
The content creator had posted a tribute for her dad the night before on Instagram by saying: ‘Today, 16 years ago, was the last time I spoke to my dad.
‘I can’t believe he is gone tomorrow 16 years….And now I’m about to become a parent in a few short weeks.
‘Life goes by fast. Cherish your parents while you have them because I wish we could talk again today.’
