Strip and Dip is back and they are aiming to break a third Guinness world record

Charity swimming event, Strip and Dip, has returned, and they are aiming to break their third Guinness World Record – the largest gathering of people dressed in 1980s clothes

Charity swimming event, Strip and Dip, has returned for its 13th year – and they are aiming to break their third Guinness World Record.

Returning to Magheramore Beach in Wicklow on 6 June 2026, the much-loved fundraising event will attempt to secure a record for the largest gathering of people dressed in 1980s clothing.

Strip and Dip has become famous for combining feel-good fun with fearless fundraising. At its heart is the now legendary dip where hundreds of women take to the sea in support of Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, an Irish charity helping families facing childhood cancer.

Since Strip and Dip began, the event has raised €1.4 million. The money has gone on to build Aoibheann’s Lighthouse in Crumlin, a respite home for families to stay in during their child’s cancer treatment.

This year’s 80s theme promises a colourful twist with participants encouraged to go all out in neon, nostalgia and retro style and baring all as they take to the water.

And when it comes to records, this crowd knows what they’re doing. Strip and Dip first made headlines in 2018 with their first Guinness World Record for the world’s largest skinny dip, before going on to smash a second record for a virtual dip during Covid with the most photos of people in water taken within an hour. Now, organisers have their sights firmly set on a third.

Speaking ahead of the event, organiser Dee Featherstone said, “If you’ve ever needed an excuse to dust off the neon and go all out, this is it. Strip and Dip is about stepping outside your comfort zone, having a laugh with like-minded women and doing something genuinely meaningful at the same time. We want to see the beach packed with colour, energy and plenty of 80s spirit.”

Funds raised will go directly to Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, helping to provide vital practical and emotional support to families, including emergency accommodation for those travelling long distances for their child’s treatment.

Registration is now open at stripanddip.ie. This is a women-only adult event, and participants are encouraged to sign up early. Participants will meet at the Arklow Bay Hotel from 8am, followed by a dip on Magheramore Beach.
