ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th May, 2026) The specialized medical team of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program (SCTP) achieved a new medical milestone by successfully separating Tanzanian conjoined twins Nancy and Nice after a complex 16-and-a-half-hour surgery in Riyadh.
According to SPA, the operation was carried out at King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital within King Abdulaziz Medical City affiliated with the Ministry of National Guard.
Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah said the surgery was completed successfully through 10 stages involving 35 consultants, specialists, nursing staff and technicians from multiple medical fields.
He said the twins were joined at the lower chest, abdomen and pelvis, and shared several vital organs and systems, making the operation highly delicate and medically challenging.
Dr. Al Rabeeah added that the procedure marks the third successful separation of Tanzanian conjoined twins and the 71st operation performed under the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program during its 35-year history.
The report said the humanitarian medical program has handled 157 cases from 28 countries around the world, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s leading role in specialized humanitarian and medical services.
The family of the twins expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership and the medical team for the care and efforts made to ensure the success of the surgery.
