Pune Influencer Exposes QR Menu Privacy Breach at Restaurant


A woman from Pune has claimed that a restaurant employee misused her personal information after she visited a popular eatery on FC Road. This incident has raised new concerns about customer privacy and the increasing use of QR-code menus in restaurants.

The woman, Rishika Dutta, shared her experience on Instagram earlier this week. In her post, she mentioned that she visited the restaurant on April 28 and scanned a QR code to access the digital menu. Later that night, she received unexpected text messages from an unknown number.

Dutta said that after checking the sender’s identity, she found out that the person worked at the same restaurant. She suspected that her phone number accessed through the QR-based menu system used by the restaurant. Screenshots shared online seemed to show the man asking personal questions and trying to befriend her.

Upset by the incident, Pune women contacted the restaurant management and demanded action. She said the restaurant informed her that the employee fired from all branches shortly after her complaint.

In response to the allegations, the restaurant posted a public reply on social media, apologizing for the incident and saying that immediate action taken. The company added that customer safety and privacy were very important and promised to improve internal processes to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Many social media users expressed concerns about privacy and safety, criticizing the growing dependence on QR-code menus at restaurants.
