A pizza shop owner in Noida taken into police custody after a CCTV video out. It showed him spitting on pizza dough while preparing orders.
The accused, named Mujammil, runs a food outlet called Pizza Hunt in Chaura village of Sector-22, which falls under the Sector-24 police station in Noida. The incident became public when the video resurfaced online and quickly gained attention.
Pizza owner arrested in Noida for spitting
Members of the Hindu Raksha Dal reported that they alerted to the incident and later verified the accusation through the footage. Sonu Sharma, the president of the organization’s Khoda unit, said that the members confronted the accused after allegedly seeing him repeat the act.
After the confrontation, local police took Mujammil into custody. Reports also indicated that he allegedly assaulted by some members before the police arrived. Authorities confirmed that the accused interrogated after the video went viral.
Owner denied spitting while investigation
During questioning, Mujammil denied spitting on the food intentionally. He claimed he was only blowing air on the dough to remove excess flour while making the pizza base. Officials mentioned that they are further examining the validity and context of the clip.
A police official said a forensic analysis of the footage conducted to check if the video altered and to confirm when it was recorded. Evidence from the shop collected, and other employees also questioned as part of the investigation.
The viral clip, which is about one minute and 22 seconds long, caused a stir online. Many social media users voiced their concerns about hygiene practices at restaurants and food delivery services. One comment noted, “The honest answer is that even in a world where AI takes over most tasks, someone held responsible for what gets spit onto the pizza.”
