Pilgrims injured in 2 bus head-on collision – Pioneer Edge | Uttarakhand News in English | Dehradun News Today| News Uttarakhand | Uttarakhand latest news

At least five people, including Char Dham pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh, were injured when two speeding buses collided head-on on the Rishikesh-Dehradun road near the Kali temple on Tuesday morning.  The collusion was so severe that both the buses were severely damaged and a car travelling in between was also hit.

Following the accident, the locals rushed to help on    hearing screams from the injured and panic-stricken passengers. With their assistance, passengers, trapped in buses and cars, were rescued. Among the five injured were three car passengers and two bus passengers.

Upon receiving the information, the Kotwali police arrived at the scene and began rescue operations in assistance with the locals.

The injured were immediately rushed to various hospitals. The car occupants were admitted to the Himalayan Hospital in Jolly Grant, while the other two injured were sent to the government hospital in Rishikesh for treatment. According to doctors, all the injured are currently out of danger.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident had occurred during an overtaking attempt. Police said that a bus coming from Dehradun had attempted to overtake and collided with a bus carrying pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra. A car also got in the way and was mangled badly in the accident.

Kotwal Kailash Chandra Bhatt said that one of the buses involved in the accident was a Vishwanath Seva bus, while the other was carrying pilgrims from Morena, Madhya Pradesh, on the Char Dham Yatra. Police have launched an investigation and are identifying the injured.
