PF Transfers Rules: EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) is now going to bring a major digital change for its crores of members. Soon, withdrawing money from EPF account may be as easy as sending money to someone through UPI. Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that EPFO has completed testing of UPI based withdrawal facility and this service may start in the coming one month. After the implementation of this new facility, employees will not need to go through long claim process or wait for many days to withdraw PF.
Currently, EPFO members have to file an online claim to withdraw their PF, and the funds are then credited to their account after processing. However, the auto-settlement system has reduced this time to three days, but the government now aims to speed it up even further. Under the new system, members will be able to check their EPF balance directly through their UPI app and immediately transfer the available withdrawal amount to their bank account. Simply enter the linked UPI PIN, and the funds will be credited directly to their account.
The government plans to freeze a certain amount in the EPF account, while the remaining balance will be available for withdrawal. This means that employees will be able to immediately access the funds for medical expenses, children’s education, marriage, or home purchases if needed. Importantly, once transferred, this amount can be used like a normal bank balance, whether for online payments or ATM cash withdrawals.
EPFO has made major changes in its software system to implement this system, so that crores of users can get the service without any problem. It is believed that this step will further strengthen India’s digital financial system. With the start of PF withdrawal through UPI, the biggest problem of the employees can be eliminated to a great extent.
Along with this, EPFO is now preparing to provide services through WhatsApp also. Members will be able to get information like PF balance, past transactions, claim status etc. by sending “Hello” to the verified WhatsApp number of EPFO. This facility will also be available in local languages, which will be of great benefit to the employees of small towns and rural areas.
The government is also trying to expedite the resolution of legal matters related to the EPFO. According to the ministry, the number of pending cases has declined significantly over the past year. This clearly indicates that the government is working rapidly towards making the EPFO completely digital, fast, and user-friendly. In the future, withdrawing PF will likely become as easy as making a payment by scanning a QR code on your mobile.
