Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf congratulated the nation and officers and personnel of the armed forces on completion of one year since the success of Marka-e-Haq.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the occasion stood as proof of professional excellence, courage and the enduring spirit of unity. The statement said the armed forces had always stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Pakistan and continued to fulfil their bond with the nation with pride and devotion.
The ISPR stated that Marka-e-Haq reflected national resolve, military skill and strategic maturity. It said the success of the operation strengthened national confidence and highlighted Pakistan as a responsible and stable regional power. The military’s response also exposed enemy conspiracies, false flag narratives and misleading propaganda, forcing the adversary to face international embarrassment.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari issued a message on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, paying tribute to the nation and the armed forces.
The president has termed the leadership, strategy and courageous decisions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as central to the success of Marka-e-Haq. He also praised Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Pakistan Air Force personnel for their extraordinary skill and professionalism.
President Zardari commended Admiral Naveed Ashraf and naval forces for their operational readiness and defence capability, describing them as a source of national pride.
In his message, the president said Pakistan was a responsible and peace-loving state which had delivered a firm yet balanced response to enemy aggression, sending a clear message to the world regarding its defence capability. He said the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir should be resolved in line with United Nations resolutions and reiterated Pakistan’s moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.
He said India’s attempt to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty amounted to water terrorism, adding that water was a matter of life for millions of Pakistanis. He also said Afghanistan must ensure its soil was not used for terrorism against Pakistan and other countries in the region, adding that the elimination of terrorism backed by foreign elements remained essential for regional peace.
The president said the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had enabled Pakistan to emerge as a symbol of balance and stability in the region. He added that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Iran-United States dispute had received international appreciation.
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the nation and armed forces on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.
The prime minister praised the visionary leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and said his courage and unwavering commitment to defending the homeland had strengthened the resolve of the nation and armed forces at a critical moment in history.
In his statement, the prime minister said Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos demonstrated the professionalism and outstanding military capability of Pakistan’s armed forces. He said the armed forces, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, successfully defended the sovereignty and dignity of the motherland.
Shehbaz Sharif said Marka-e-Haq would always be remembered as a symbol of national unity and steadfastness. He paid tribute to the brave sons and daughters in uniform and said Pakistan remained committed to peace but would never compromise on its territorial integrity and national dignity.
The prime minister said the nation took pride in its martyrs and veterans whose sacrifices formed the foundation of the country’s freedom and security.
