The president of the Nursing Ekta Manch (NEM), Naval Pundir, urged the government to seriously consider their demands and to provide justice for unemployed nursing graduates instead of politicising their agitation. He made this statement while addressing the media here on Friday.
It is important to note that unemployed nursing graduates, under the banner of NEM, have demonstrated their long-standing demands for quite some time. Their protests have included rallies, hunger strikes and even a recent sit-in atop a water tank located at the Parade Ground. In response to their actions, the Director General of Health, Dr Sunita Tamta, recently wrote to the Health Secretary requesting a policy decision on year-wise recruitment and reforms for future nursing officer selections. After this, unemployed nursing graduates postponed their protest for one month.
