Pakistani drama actress Momina Iqbal has said that she has received security and action has been taken after she publicly accused a PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) of prolonged online harassment, cyberbullying, and death threats.
In a fresh Instagram statement, Iqbal acknowledged the response from Punjab’s Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz. “I appreciate Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for taking immediate action, assigning the case to the relevant authorities, and providing me and my family with immediate and comprehensive security,” she wrote.
She also welcomed a development from the country’s cybercrime regulator. “I also appreciate NCCIA for issuing summons to the accused individuals,” she said.
Despite the progress, Iqbal urged the public to hold off on drawing conclusions. “I request everyone not to blame anyone until my official statement is recorded,” she wrote, adding: “I will surely name and shame these harassers.”
She also revealed that her case may not be isolated. “I have received messages from several other girls who claim they were also harassed by this particular MPA and are willing to come forward as witnesses,” she said, adding that she intends to pursue the matter fully.
Iqbal closed her statement by thanking those who stood by her. “I also sincerely thank the public and my media family for their overwhelming support, prayers, encouragement, and for standing by me during this difficult time,” she wrote.
The update comes after Iqbal went public on Wednesday with detailed allegations, stating that she had spent a long time reporting the matter to NCCIA, FIA, and Punjab Police without result, citing the political influence of the accused MPA.
She had also alleged that individuals connected to the Chief Minister’s office tried to discourage and suppress her complaints rather than allow a proper investigation.
