A 29-year-old woman who disappeared while returning from the Kedarnath Yatra now found safe in Begusarai district, Bihar. She is missing from 6 days and her discovery now puzzled both police and railway authorities.
Pragya Singh was traced and taken into police custody following a thorough search effort that involved Uttarakhand Police, Railway Police, and several investigative agencies. Her family has been informed about her recovery.
How did she disappear from train and traced in Bihar
However, the main questions remain unanswered: how did she disappear from the train, and what circumstances led her to Bihar?
According to a report, she was traveling with her husband Manish on the Nanda Devi Express from Dehradun to Ghaziabad on the night of May 5, after finishing the Kedarnath pilgrimage.
Her husband said that they were having a normal conversation until the train passed Haridwar. After that, he fell asleep. When he woke up near Muzaffarnagar station, he found that Pragya was not at her seat.
At first, he thought she had gone to the bathroom, so he waited for her to return. When she didn’t come back, he searched the entire coach and nearby compartments, but he could not find her. Her mobile number was also turned off.
Husband informed railways authorities and file missing report
The Railway Police were immediately informed, and the investigation was later handed over to Roorkee Police. The case became more complicated when officers were unable to obtain CCTV footage from the Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar railway stations. The family reported that the cameras at both locations were not working at the time.
Police teams also searched along the railway tracks and nearby areas, fearing possible foul play or an accident. Officers reviewed her call records, messages, and WhatsApp chats, but found no suspicious leads.
