Even as the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in Dehradun and other areas in the plains on Thursday, light rain may bring some brief relief from the heat today. The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday.
Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts while very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining hill districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the State’s plain districts.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thundercloud development/light rain is likely to occur in some areas towards afternoon/evening though this will provide only some temporary relief as the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
