Lewandowski confirms he is leaving Barcelona at season’s end

Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on a four-year spell at the club.

The Poland international took to Instagram to make the announcement, sharing an emotional video of his best moments in Blaugrana, alongside a heartfelt message for the club and its supporters.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on. I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. 4 seasons, 3 championships,” he wrote.

“I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth.”

Lewandowski also expressed gratitude to club president Joan Laporta, and wrote: “Thank you to everyone I met along the way during these beautiful four years. A special thank you to President Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career.”

He signed off with: “Barça is back where it belongs. Visca el Barça. Visca Catalunya.”

The striker joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 and went on to become one of the most decorated players of the club’s recent era. In four seasons, he won three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cup honours.

Lewandowski departs with 119 goals and 24 assists from 191 appearances, with two matches still remaining in the current campaign.

His contract was due to expire on June 30, and while Barcelona were open to offering him a one-year extension, Lewandowski chose to move on.

Barcelona paid tribute to the striker on their official channels, saying, “Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every fight, and every magical moment wearing these colours. Culer forever.”

He will bid farewell to supporters at the Camp Nou Sunday when Barcelona host Real Betis in their final home match of the season.
