The animal later got trapped inside a large shop floor within the manufacturing unit, creating significant concern among workers and management.
Leopard spotted in Mercedes-Benz plant in Pune
As a safety measure, the company paused all production for two days to protect its employees. The size of the plant made a wild leopard wandered into the Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plant in Chakan, near Pune. After a tense two-day rescue operation that included forest officials, wildlife organizations, and police, the leopard safely captured.
CCTV footage from Saturday morning showed the leopard entering the premises, likely in search of prey. The animal then became trapped inside a large shop floor of the manufacturing unit, alarming workers and management.
Rescue operations take place
The rescue took place under the supervision of the Forest Department, with teams from RESQ Charitable Trust and Wildlife SOS conducting an extensive search. The leopard has since been moved to the Manikdoh Rescue Centre.
After nearly two days of hard work, rescue teams successfully lured the leopard into a cage while it searched for prey inside the unit. Pune forest officials confirmed that the animal was a healthy male, around three and a half to four years old.
The rescue operation took place under the supervision of the Forest Department, with teams from RESQ Charitable Trust and Wildlife SOS conducting a thorough search. Employees and local residents felt a great sense of relief after the successful operation.
