The TV personality and mum of five returned to the hit dating show after finding love on it last year to prove it can really work – and became emotional as she spoke about her relationship
Kerry Katona broke down in tears as she returned to Celebs Go Dating this week.
The former Atomic Kitten singer found love on last year’s show and is happier than ever with her boyfriend, Paolo Margaglione.
Kerry and Paolo returned to the dating agency on Wednesday night’s episode to share how the dating series can really work.
And while catching up with dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul C. Brunson, Kerry became overcome with emotion.
The mum of five has endured a lot of heartache over the years, most of which has played out in the public eye, and now admits feeling this happy is “scary” because she isn’t used to it.
Speaking to the experts about the public’s reaction to her and Paolo, Kerry said: “I found it really overwhelming. I think since I joined the agency people see me for who I really am rather than just reading a headline.
“People actually watched me fall in love, and the support I’ve had from people – it’s been so overwhelming – for people to be so invested in somebody who I’ve chosen to love.
“It’s been really overwhelming, I’m not sure how to deal with it.”
Wiping away her tears, Kerry continued: “Life is so good, it’s so unbelievable that it scares me.”
Kerry signed up to the hit E4 dating show last year following her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney.
The former couple were together for six years before calling it quits.
Prior to Ryan, Kerry was married to three times – first to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, then to Mark Croft, and then to the late George Kay.
She shares daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue with Brian, middle children Heidi and Max with Mark and youngest daughter DJ to George, who passed in 2019.
Paolo, meanwhile, has two daughters from a previous relationship.
Kerry’s brief return to Celebs Go Dating was to show this year’s participants that the experiment can work.
One star taking part is Coleen Nolan.
Speaking about her decision to sign up, the Loose Women star told RSVP Magazine: “I just thought I’m single and looking for someone – what a great show to do! It looked like so much fun.
“I phoned my manager and said I’d like to do it. Very luckily the team said yes and I can honestly say it was the best, most enjoyable three months of television that I’ve ever done.
“I’ve never laughed so much in my life. All of the other celebrities and the crew were amazing.
“There wasn’t one person I didn’t like. Everyone was fabulous. I was a bit lost when I finished filming actually, because I really missed it.
“It was a long process, with 14/15 hour filming days, but it didn’t matter because I had so much fun. I went on some lovely dates and met some lovely guys.”
