Jaxson Dart’s Trump rally decision was a messy Giants reminder

The fundamental laws of the universe apply, even to the popular and impressive and mature-beyond-his-years Jaxson Dart.

Actions have consequences. This is inexorable. If Dart did not fully understand that a few days ago, he surely does now, after accepting an invitation to introduce President Trump at a rally Friday in Rockland County.

That Dart, as a 23-year old from Utah, was asked to do this was surely heady stuff for someone so young and so new on the scene in the New York/New Jersey area. As polarizing and divisive as the political climate is nowadays, no one can deny Dart’s right to embrace an offer that so many U.S. citizens would consider to be a great honor.

Dart might not have considered that so many others would be appalled by this, though, and that the adoration he has felt as the starting quarterback of the New York Football Giants would get fractured by some degree by such an outward display of partisanship, instantly triggering animus where none previously existed.
