Ireland weather: Temperatures of 15 degrees as sunny spells predicted for the weekend


It is looking like a dry and sunny weekend across the country, with cool temperatures predicted during Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which will fall to 3 degrees overnight

There will be plenty of blue skies and sunny spells over the next few days, hopefully paving the way for a nice weekend.

The national forecaster is predicting that temperatures will reach 15 degrees during the day and drop down to 3 degrees overnight.

Today, Thursday, May 7th

Most areas will be dry with sunny spells at first this morning, although a few showers will affect the west, northwest and south. The showers will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening with cloud increasing too, leading to more limited sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest winds.

A mix of cloud and clear spells this evening, with scattered light showers that will become more isolated as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees generally, but falling to between 2 and 5 degrees in parts of the south and southeast in light variable winds.

Friday, May 8th

A mix of cloud and hazy sunny spells tomorrow with scattered showers mainly affecting Munster, Leister and east Ulster with the odd heavy one possible. Elsewhere will remain mainly dry with the best of the sunshine in the northwest. The showers will eventually die out through the evening. Highest temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees in mainly light northerly or variable winds.

Becoming dry with clear spells on Friday night, although some cloud may linger in the south. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds, increasing fresh at times in parts of the south.

Saturday, May 9th

There is uncertainty in the forecast for Saturday, but current indications suggest dry weather with sunny spells across many areas, though cloudier conditions and the chance of a shower in southern areas. Breezy with a moderate to fresh northerly wind and highest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees.

Mainly dry overnight, with clear spells, but cloudier in southern coastal parts, with showery rain at times. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds.

Sunday, May 10th

Any cloud or showery rain in the southern parts will clear early, with plenty of dry weather in the morning and sunny spells. Cloud will increase from the north through the day with the possibility of isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in a light to moderate northerly breeze. Cloud and light showers moving into the northern parts overnight, while remaining dry elsewhere with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees in light north to northwest winds.

Monday, May 11th

A mix of cloud and sunny spells in the morning with light showers tracking southwards, before turning dry with good spells of sunshine from the north through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees, coolest in the north, in light to moderate northerly winds.
