IMD Heavy Rain Alert: The weather across the country is currently experiencing significant turmoil. While many areas of North and Central India are reeling under intense heat and heatwaves, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert for more than 19 states in its latest afternoon bulletin. According to the weather department, large parts of the country will experience thunderstorms, hailstorms, and torrential rains in the coming days.

According to the IMD, tornadoes with winds of 50 to 60 kmph will hit various parts of the country. In some states, the speed may even increase to 70 to 80 kmph. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is also steadily increasing. The monsoon has already advanced into many parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Conditions are favorable for its further advance over the next two to three days. Due to this strong weather system, the country’s weather will remain completely altered until June 1st.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation is present over South Bihar and its surrounding areas. Additionally, a north-south trough is active from South Bihar to north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Weather systems are also present over Assam and Punjab. Furthermore, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from May 28th. Due to these factors, the weather conditions in various regions of the country are expected to be as follows until June 1st.

Northeast India: Torrential and Very Heavy Rain

A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for the states of Northeast India until June 1st. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya today, May 26th. Further heavy rainfall will continue in isolated areas on May 27-28, May 31st, and June 1st. A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh on May 26th, tomorrow, May 27th, and again on June 1st. Heavy rainfall is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 26-27th, May 31st, and June 1st.

South India and Islands: Heavy Rain Alert with Thunderstorms

A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on May 26th. Widespread rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph will occur from May 26th to 28th. Heavy rain will occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and South Interior Karnataka on May 26. North Interior Karnataka is on alert for heavy rain and hailstorms on May 27. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience heavy rainfall from May 26 to 31.

Eastern India: Hailstorm and Heavy Rain Alert

There is a strong possibility of hailstorms and thunderstorms in Bihar on May 26th. Additionally, there is an alert for heavy rain in parts of Bihar on May 26th, 27th, and 29th. Dangerous tornadoes expected to hit at speeds of 70 to 80 kmph

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will be most aggressive in many states in the coming days, with extremely high-speed thunderstorms expected. Dangerous tornadoes will hit Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on May 28th and 29th, with winds of 60-70 kmph, gusting up to 80 kmph. Winds of 50-60 kmph will also hit Uttar Pradesh on May 28th and 30th. Apart from this, there is also an alert of dust storm in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on 28-29 May.

A devastating tornado with a speed of 60-70 kmph is likely to hit Bihar on 29 May. Today, 26 May and tomorrow, 27 May, there will also be a dust storm with a speed of 50-60 kmph. Tornadoes will hit Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand from 27 to 29 May and Odisha on 26, 29 and 30 May. There is a warning of dust storm with a speed of 50-60 kmph in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan on 28 and 29 May.

Heavy Hailstorm Alert in Northwest India

Due to a new Western Disturbance, a special hailstorm alert has been issued for several states in Northwest India. Heavy hailstorms are expected in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh on May 28th and 29th. Hailstorms are possible in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on May 29th. In addition, an alert has been issued for strong thunderstorms and winds with speeds of up to 40-50 kmph on different days in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat.

Severe Heat Wave to Continue in These Areas Until May 28th

While there is an alert for thunderstorms and rain, the sun will continue to rage in the plains until May 28th. A danger alert for severe to very severe heatwave conditions has been issued for Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Vidarbha today and tomorrow (May 26-27). A severe heat wave will prevail in Punjab on May 27th. Severe heat wave conditions will persist in western Rajasthan from May 26th to 28th, western Madhya Pradesh from May 26th to 27th, and eastern Madhya Pradesh from May 26th to 28th.

Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Jharkhand will experience a severe heat wave from May 26th to 28th. Temperatures will drop significantly from May 29th, providing relief from the heat wave. Humid, sticky heat will continue to trouble Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal. Nights will also be extremely hot in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Odisha on May 26th and 27th.
