Several incidents also triggered protests by local residents and Hindu organisations demanding police action and administrative intervention.

1. Sexual Harassment Allegations at Dharwad Gym Trigger Protests and Police Response
An incident of sexual harassment at a gym in Maratha Colony, Dharwad, came to light on 30 March 2026. A gym trainer, Mohammad Sabir, was accused of repeatedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour with female members at the ‘Fitness First’ gym. The case did not involve any fatalities.
Several women stated that the accused, under the pretext of providing training, engaged in unwanted physical contact and behaved inappropriately, causing distress. He also loitered near women’s restrooms and changing areas, making gestures that created discomfort and a sense of insecurity. In response, the Hindu Canadian Foundation issued statements asserting that temples are sacred places of worship and not venues for protests. A Hindu couple was assaulted by a group of Muslim men near the APMC area in Arsikere, Hassan district, on 4 April 2026. The couple had travelled to attend the annual Rathotsava at the Sri Jenukallu Siddeshwaraswamy Temple and were returning on a two-wheeler after offering prayers when the incident took place.
The confrontation began after a Muslim man identified as Sufiyan Samivulla, who was allegedly riding at high speed, brushed against the couple’s vehicle, leading to a verbal altercation. 30. Hindu Minor Boy Converted to Islam in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar
A Hindu minor boy from Kasauli village in the Charthawal area of Muzaffarnagar district was allegedly converted to Islam by three Muslim individuals during the month of Ramzan. The matter came to light after a photograph of the boy wearing a topi during Eid namaz circulated on social media, triggering anger among local residents.
The incident unfolded after a Hindu woman from the Punjabi community in the village was converted to Islam. Following her conversion, her minor nephew was also drawn into the conversion process under her influence. The boy was subsequently made to participate in Eid namaz, where photographs of him in Islamic attire surfaced publicly.
The circulation of the photographs led to protests in the village, with dozens of residents reaching the police station and submitting a written complaint against the accused. Villagers demanded registration of an FIR and immediate action against those involved in the conversion of the minor.
Swami Yashveer of Baghra Ashram also condemned the incident and issued a five-day ultimatum to the police administration, demanding arrest of the accused and strict action in the matter. He described the incident as a targeted attempt to convert members of the Hindu Punjabi community.
31. Hindu Woman Allegedly Deceived Through Fake Hindu Identity and Forcibly Converted in Meerut
A Hindu woman named Komal from Gurdaspur, Punjab, was allegedly lured into a relationship by a Muslim man from Meerut who posed as a Hindu on Instagram. The accused, identified as Raoof from the Islamabad locality in the Lisadi Gate area, allegedly concealed his religious identity and developed contact with the woman through a fake Hindu profile on social media.
After gaining her trust, Raoof persuaded Komal to travel to Meerut on 20 March 2026 and took her to his residence. Once there, he allegedly forcibly converted her to Islam and married her through nikah without the knowledge or consent of her family.
The matter came to light after local BJP workers received information about the alleged forced conversion and nikah. BJP councillor Abhinav Arora, BJP worker Bhavesh Mehta and several others gathered outside the accused’s residence in protest, following which police intervened and brought both Raoof and Komal to the police station.

32. Minor Hindu girl abducted, forcibly converted and married in Sindh, Pakistan
In Sindh, Pakistan, a nine‑year‑old Hindu girl named Reshma was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and married to a 45‑year‑old Muslim man, Wazir Hussain. According to media accounts, the minor girl was taken from her home, transported to a Sufi dargah (Islamic shrine), and there subjected to a forced religious conversion ceremony. After the conversion, she was married to Hussain, despite being far below the legal age of marriage, in a case that has drawn sharp criticism from human‑rights groups and local activists.
The incident came to public attention when photographs of the young Hindu girl, dressed in bridal attire, went viral on social media, prompting urgent calls for government intervention. Human‑rights organisations and civil‑society activists demanded the immediate annulment of the marriage, the safe return of the child to her family and a strict legal response in view of grave violations of child‑protection norms and Pakistan’s own Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, which formally prohibits marriage for anyone under 18. The case has been presented as emblematic of the broader pattern of abductions, forced conversions and underage marriages targeting Hindu girls in Sindh.
The victim in this incident is a single minor Hindu girl, recorded as nine years old and belonging to the general category; her caste and family name have not been disclosed in public reports beyond the name “Reshma.” Authorities have not released her full identity, in line with standard safeguards for child victims, and there is no indication in media coverage that she has been recovered or returned to her parents. The case status is currently listed as “unknown,” with no clear official update on her whereabouts or the legal status of the marriage.
The primary perpetrator named in the case is Wazir Hussain, a 45‑year‑old Muslim man to whom the girl was married; the Hinduphobia Tracker records only one named accused, even though reports indicate the involvement of clerics or associates at the dargah in the abduction and conversion. The case is being treated as a classic instance of predatory proselytisation, where a minor Hindu girl was targeted because of her religious identity, forcibly converted and married to a Muslim man, effectively severing her ties to her family, community and faith. The use of a Sufi dargah and the broader context of widespread forced‑conversion cases against Hindu girls in Sindh have led commentators to frame this as part of a systematic pattern of religious hostility and institutionalised discrimination against Pakistan’s Hindu minority.
33. Hindu Widow Allegedly Deceived, Exploited and Threatened for Religious Conversion in Gwalior
A 29-year-old Hindu widow in the Madhoganj area of Gwalior was allegedly deceived, sexually exploited and blackmailed for religious conversion by a Muslim man identified as Sameer Khan, who posed as a Hindu under the name Ravi Thakur.

Presenting himself as a Hindu and wearing Hindu attire, the accused befriended her and developed a relationship with her on the promise of marriage. During this period, he allegedly established physical relations with her repeatedly and secretly recorded private photos and videos without her consent.
The woman later discovered that the accused was actually Sameer Khan and not Ravi Thakur as he had claimed. After she attempted to end the relationship, the accused allegedly began pressuring her to convert to Islam. When she refused, he threatened to kill her, her children and her sister. He also threatened to circulate her private videos and images on social media and later allegedly made some of them viral, causing severe mental distress to the victim.
With the support of members of a Hindu organisation, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused. Acting on her statement, police registered a case under charges including rape, criminal intimidation and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Family members who attempted to intervene were also beaten. Tarun later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police registered an FIR naming 22 accused, of whom 18 were arrested while four remained absconding.
Following the murder, Tarun’s family approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection, stating that they were facing continuous threats from individuals linked to the accused. The women allegedly threatened to kill the family’s second son if the case was not withdrawn and pressured them to leave the locality.
The family also informed the court that inflammatory and threatening videos targeting them were circulating on social media. Samar’s elder brother, Pramod, travelled to Delhi in search of him. According to the family, he found the child living with Muslim individuals, dressed in Islamic attire and offering namaz. The family alleged that the boy’s name had been changed to Mohammad Ali and that he was being made to follow Islamic practices. The victim’s mother stated that Samar had previously returned briefly to Pratapgarh and told the family that he had been forced to eat beef, wear Islamic clothing, and participate in Islamic religious practices while in Delhi. She further alleged that the child was again taken away forcibly despite his unwillingness to return.

A significant number of cases involved allegations of deception through false identities, coercion linked to religious conversion, intimidation of Hindu families, and threats directed at individuals who resisted such pressure. Simultaneously, repeated incidents of idol desecration, temple vandalism, encroachment disputes, and objectionable social media content targeting Hindu deities triggered protests, police action, and heightened public concern.
Across states and districts, the recurring pattern of complaints, demonstrations, FIRs, arrests, and ongoing investigations underscored the seriousness with which local communities viewed these incidents. In many areas, residents and Hindu organisations demanded stronger preventive measures, timely legal action, and stricter enforcement to maintain communal harmony and protect religious institutions.
