Spoilers ahead: Things go from bad to worse for James and Hayley, Dean is encouraged to go into business with Orla and Ellie storms out as Alex and Síofra grow closer

On Thursday night’s Fair City, Hayley prepares to pitch for a marketing job with an old co-worker who is based in London.
Rafferty is relieved when Holly finally signs the NDA.
James calls a meeting with Emma, Rafferty and Holly to discuss working together.
James accuses Holly of wanting to destroy the business. He demands that Rafferty get rid of Holly or he’ll walk.
Rafferty tells him Holly isn’t leaving and James can find another job.
Hayley is distraught when her old colleague tells her she won’t be hiring her – James can’t bear to tell her that’s lost his job too.
Elsewhere in Carrigstown, Orla apologises to Dean for discussing his finances with Ray, but Dean remains frosty.
Orla is cold with Rafferty when she sees him looking cosy with Claire.
As Dean makes plans to move out, Nora urges Ray to apologise to him.
Rafferty tries to arrange a date with Orla, but Orla is unimpressed when Claire interrupts to make plans with him. Orla storms out.
Nora urges Dean to reconsider and go into business with Orla.
When Orla vents about Rafferty, Doug reveals that he overheard Claire planning a date with another man so she can’t be seeing Rafferty.
Ray apologises to Dean and they agree to put it behind them.
Dean tells Orla to find out if Paul will sell to them.
Plus, Ben advises Alex to put some more effort in with Ellie when he notices she seems down.
Ellie is chuffed when Alex plans a cinema date for them.
When Ben turns up to his hangout with Síofra with a bunch of flowers, Síofra frets to Alex that Ben’s got the wrong idea and she’s not interested in a romantic hangout.
To save Ben the embarrassment, Alex quickly pretends that all four of them are going to hang out to Ellie’s annoyance.
The evening turns awkward when Ellie can’t hide her jealousy at Alex and Síofra’s chumminess, and she storms out.
