Boyzone reunite for ‘raw and revealing’ documentary ahead of farewell concerts

Following the success of Sky docuseries Boyzone: No Matter What, Ronan, Keith, Shane and Mikey will take fans behind the scenes once again for a backstage look at their final concerts

Boyzone are to reunite for another documentary, which will air later this year.

Members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham are set to play two final concerts as a band in London’s Emirates Stadium next month.

The long-awaited and deeply emotional comeback concerts mark a moment many fans believed would never happen following their farewell tour in 2019.

And now, following the phenomenal success of Boyzone: No Matter What, the record-breaking three-part documentary which explored the highs and lows of one of pop’s most iconic boy bands, Sky today confirmed a follow-up one-off documentary, One for the Road, which will take fans behind the scenes as the band prepares to reunite for the very last time.

Against the backdrop of decades of personal history and the pressure of thousands of expectant fans, the band returns carrying unresolved tensions and unfinished business from their final tour in 2019.

This time, they want to go out on their own terms and have the send-off that they – and the fans – so badly want.

“The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty,” said Executive Producer Dov Freedman.

“We’re incredibly privileged to be working with the boys again and telling the story of their final chapter.”

While Hayley Reynolds, Head of Documentary Commissioning, Sky said: “Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we’re thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion – something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony.”

Sky describes the documentary as follows: “Warm, funny, raw and revealing, One For The Road is a story of friendship, forgiveness, ageing and legacy – and of the enduring bond between Boyzone and the fans who have stood by them through every chapter.”

Meanwhile, we recently caught up with Keith Duffy ahead of Boyzone’s final two shows.

He told RSVP Live: “We are getting the opportunity to come back together for two nights on a massive stage in London and it’s just going to be a massive celebration.

“I’m not going to lie, I’m a little bit apprehensive. I’m a little bit nervous.

“We haven’t been together on stage in I think 8 or 9 years, so it’ll be a little bit strange.

“But all of that will subside once we have two or three days in rehearsals, which we start next week, and once we get into rehearsals we’ll fit back into where we belong.

“We’ll reminisce with each other and have a laugh. There might be a couple of tears, a couple of emotions – we’ll talk about Stephen no doubt.

“We’ll put a great show together and hopefully everybody will love what we do.”

Boyzone: One for the Road comes to Sky and NOW later this year.
