Bodies of three women pulled from water off Brighton beach


There is a huge police presence on the shore as two lifeboats were also spotted

Police have confirmed the bodies of three women have been found on Brighton Beach as they advise ‘avoid the area’. Multiple emergency service vehicles were spotted swarming the sea front, as reports reveal a helicopter and two lifeboats are at the scene on Wednesday (April 13).

According to Daily Star, coastguard were spotted in the water and there is a huge police presence on the shore. A photographer at the scene confirmed at the time, at least one body had been recovered so far in the search operation.

Now Brighton and Hove Police have confirmed three bodies were found, adding the public should avoid the area while investigations continue.

Brighton and Hove Police posted a statement on Facebook saying: “Emergency services were called to concerns for the welfare of three women in the sea off Brighton at around 5.45am this morning (13 May).

“Sadly, the bodies of three women were recovered from the water near Madeira Drive.”

Included in the statement, Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said: “This is a tragic incident and fast-moving enquiries are ongoing to confirm the identities of these three women and understand exactly what has happened.

“I know this is concerning for the community, but I would ask the public to stay away from the scene at this time while emergency services continue their work.

“We will provide further updates as soon as they are available.”
