KABUL (Amu tv): Companies from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan signed agreements worth $210 million during a trade and investment visit to Uzbekistan, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said on Sunday, marking the latest step in expanding economic ties between the neighboring countries.
The chamber said a 100-member delegation of Afghan traders, exporters and private-sector representatives traveled to the Uzbek city of Namangan under the leadership of Aryan Zelgi Azimi, the chamber’s deputy for investment.
According to the chamber, business-to-business meetings and trade discussions resulted in agreements valued at $210 million.
It did not disclose details of the contracts, the sectors involved or whether the agreements were binding investment commitments or preliminary commercial arrangements.
The announcement follows a business forum in Kabul earlier this month, where Afghan and Uzbek companies signed agreements worth about $112 million covering trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
Taliban say trade between the two countries has expanded in recent years.
