
A BJP worker lynched to death by a group linked to the Trinamool Congress while he heading home in Udaynarayanpur, in West Bengal’s Howrah district.
According to a report, the worker, identified as Jadhav Bar, was celebrating with other party members as trends from the ECI indicated that the BJP was on track to take power from the TMC.
Worker Beaten to Death after BJP Victory in West Bengal Elections
Bar’s family members said he was heading home when a group of TMC workers approached him near his house and allegedly assaulted him with sticks. They then disposed of his body in a sewer. A group of locals rushed him to Udaynarayanpur Hospital, but he announced dead upon arrival.
Soon after informed, a team from the Udaynarayanpur police station arrived at the scene and starts investigation. This incident occurred while PM Modi was addressing BJP leaders about the party’s victories in Assam and West Bengal. He asked political parties to avoid violence and work for positive change.
BJP criticize TMC over this
State election commissioner Manoj Agarwal mentioned that this was the first time in history that there were no deaths during the two phases of elections in West Bengal.
TMC’s Samir Kumar Panja defeated BJP Probhakar Pandit in the Udaynarayanpur assembly constituency, winning by a margin of 12,227 votes after 16 rounds of counting. Panja has held the seat for TMC since 2011, breaking decades of CPI(M) dominance, and defended it in 2021 against a strong surge from the BJP.
