Need to know
The well-known footballer and social media star will be on TV screens next week as he tries to find the love of his life – here is everything you need to know about him
Seán Fitzgerald is gearing up to enter the Love Island villa next week, but just how much do you actually know about the popular GAA star? Luckily, we have you covered. Here is everything you need to know about him before he appears on TV.
- Seán is currently 25 years old, and when he is not playing a match, the Galway GAA star can be found teaching his primary school students in Dublin. He has also made a name for himself on TikTok, where he has almost 100k followers and counting, and was signed by influencer agency, Marvel, which says he “isn’t afraid to give his opinion on topical subjects in his humorous way on TikTok. His content is very much Gen Z in its approach. He loves travelling, music, sport and fashion.”
- When he was young, he said he used to hate training, “I was absolutely useless, and I would be crying in the car on the way up because I hated it so much”, he previously told RSVP. His dad knew that he loved sports and made him go to football training from the age of 11. Seán also got some extra practise in thanks to his dad, who would always go out on the green and help him with his high catches and other skills, which improved his confidence ‘massively’. “In a sense, he was one of the best coaches I ever had because he believed in me and took the time to help me improve every day. If it wasn’t for him, I would not be where I am today,” he said about his dad.
- If he could go back in time and give his 16-year-old self some advice, Seán said he would tell himself: “Pleasing people is only good to an extent. Once you start to suffer mentally and physically from it, you need to reassess.” On the other hand, his biggest fear in life is not reaching his ‘full potential’.
- When asked what trait he dislikes the most in others, the GAA star revealed: “It would have to be cockiness or people who are two-faced. There’s a fine line between confidence and cockiness, and when people are on the side of cockiness, it’s very off-putting. With regard to two-faced people, I can’t stand them. If I find out someone who I’m friendly with is bad-mouthing me behind my back, I won’t talk to them again.”
- Seán has previously said that he doesn’t drink, but he still loves a trip to Coppers with his best mates.
- The footballer was first tipped for Love Island over a week ago after he posted a funny video of himself outlining the reasons why he should be considered for the show’s new season. He was then absent from the Galway team for their Connacht final defeat to Roscommon earlier this month, and it was reported that he had left the panel ahead of their triumphant All-Ireland match against Kildare.
- He isn’t afraid of any competition in the villa, saying, “If I see someone I like, I’m going for it and nothing’s gonna stop me.”
