Travellers are being warned not to forget or get caught out ahead of your holiday by a lesser known €140 charge at Dublin Airport. Here’s everything you need to know.
- If you are being dropped off by a family member or friend, it’s important to know where you can stop to take out your luggage.
- You should always be prepared to safely and quickly exit the vehicle so you can enter the airport and ensure that you’re not holding up traffic or delaying the people behind you.
- Dublin Airport has a rule that all vehicles outside of the terminals should never be left unattended. If this happens, you may be stuck with a charge of €140, with an additional fee of €35 that could also be added to your total.
- Dublin Airport state: “For security and passenger safety reasons, vehicles should not be left unattended at any time. Any vehicle left unattended outside a Terminal will be either clamped or towed by the airport police.
- “There is a charge of €140 for recovery of the vehicle. If the vehicle is not collected on the day it is removed there is a further €35 charge for each day’s storage.”
- The Daa said: “Dublin Airport provides designated set down zones for anyone wishing to drop off passengers for a flight. These zones are located outside both Terminal 1 & Terminal 2.
- “Motorists should follow signs for T1 Departures or T2 Departures to access these set down areas. Please note for security and passenger safety unattended cars will be towed away immediately.”
- When it comes to picking up passengers, it’s advised that people not wait around near the terminals and instead they should park up. “Should you be picking up passengers please avail of our short stay multi storey car parks,” Dublin Airport said.
