Petrol Diesel Price: Amid the Iran-US war and pressure over crude oil, petrol and diesel prices have been cut in neighboring Pakistan. On Friday, the government reduced petrol prices by ₹6 per liter and high-speed diesel (HSD) by ₹6.80.

Following a new notification from the Pakistani government, the price of petrol has reached ₹403.78 per liter and that of HSD at ₹402.78. The new prices have come into effect from today, May 23rd. This is the second consecutive week that Pakistan has reduced fuel prices. Last week, petrol and diesel prices were reduced by ₹5.

Petrol is mostly used in private vehicles, small vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers, and it directly impacts the budget of the middle-income group. High-speed diesel is especially used in the heavy transport sector and large generators.

Petrol and diesel prices have seen a significant increase

Although petrol and diesel prices are currently declining, Pakistan has seen a record surge. Following the outbreak of the US-Israel war over Iran, the government initially increased petrol and diesel prices by ₹55 per liter on March 6th. This was followed by a 43 percent increase in petrol and 55 percent in diesel on April 2nd.

Weekly Review

It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the Iran-Israel-US war in February, the Pakistani government has been reviewing petrol and diesel prices every Friday. During this period, petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan have experienced significant fluctuations, with several increases and subsequent decreases.

Petrol and diesel prices have risen three times in India

The three-time increase in petrol and diesel prices has been approximately ₹5. Petrol and diesel prices were also increased on Saturday. Petrol prices were increased by ₹87 and diesel by ₹91.
