Former Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik has publicly distanced himself from the Asian Legends League after the tournament’s organisers listed him as part of the Pakistan Panthers squad, featuring him on the team’s official poster.
Malik shared the poster on his X account and made his position clear. “I am not associated with this league in any capacity,” he wrote.
“I request the organisers to refrain from making such announcements and urge all stakeholders to immediately remove any reference to my name or association with this project.”
The poster showed Malik, named “The Legend”, alongside fellow former Pakistan cricketers Imran Nazir, Muhammad Irfan, Yasir Shah, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Muhammad Hafeez and Sohail Tanveer.
The league’s official website also listed Malik as the captain of Pakistan Panthers.
The Asian Legends League Season 2 is scheduled to run from June 2 to June 14, and has introduced the Pakistan Panthers as one of two new franchises alongside the Gulf Gladiators, expanding the competition to six teams.
The tournament held its inaugural season in March 2025 at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Rajasthan, India, featuring five teams.
Asian Stars won the title, defeating Indian Royals by six wickets in the final.
