‘Project Freedom’ could help pave the way for an agreement with Iran

WASHINGTON: U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has confirmed that the US delayed Project Freedom after a request from Pakistan. He explained that Pakistan believed the move could help open the door for a possible agreement with Iran.

Rubio added that the United States chose diplomacy first. He also said that President Donald Trump prefers negotiations and peaceful solutions instead of immediate action.

According to reports, Pakistan told US officials that stopping operations in the Strait of Hormuz could support ongoing talks with Iran.

Therefore, Pakistan pushed for a temporary pause to reduce tensions and encourage dialogue. The US leadership accepted this request and shifted focus toward diplomatic efforts.
