Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has begun an official visit to Vietnam and South Korea aimed at boosting India’s defence ties and strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

During his visit to Vietnam, Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang. The visit comes as India and Vietnam mark a decade of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, recently upgraded to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Defence Minister will also pay tribute to former Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh on his 136th birth anniversary in Hanoi.

In South Korea, Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet Defence Minister Ahn Gyu-back and senior defence industry officials to review military cooperation and defence industrial partnerships. He will also chair an India-Korea business roundtable on defence collaboration.

A key highlight of the visit will be the joint inauguration of the Indian War Memorial commemorating Indian soldiers who served during the Korean War.

The visit reflects India’s continued focus on strengthening strategic partnerships under its Act East Policy and expanding its presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
